Hello folks!

So last weekend I was at the beach which is 40 minutes away from where I stay ..and on a leisurely stroll along the beach me and Le Husband found white roses floating around the coastline and a few of them had washed ashore. It Β was romantic…it was close to sunset, we were on the beach, I was with the love of my life and I had roses strewn around πŸ˜€

Here is hoping all you guys find some small pleasant surprises like this during your weekend getaways/summer vacations!

Have a fabulous weekend!! ..until next time ciao!

Champneys Spa Indulgence Distant Shores Body Butter Review

Hello everyone!

Now that summer is officially here its time to bring out those light summery/tropical scented body products out of your stash or go get some new ones. I am generally not a fan of overly coconuty or papaya smelling products and so I am always on the look out for body lotions and butter which smell light and fresh without the coconut/papaya undertones. I came across the Champneys Spa Indulgence line at my local target a couple of months back and picked the body butter with passion fruit and mango extracts. It comes in a cute pink tub and smells quite nice in my opinion πŸ™‚

Champneys Body Butter
Champneys Body Butter
  • I gravitated towards this product solely coz it smelt nice and very different from the usual stuff. I am a big fan of passion fruit juice ( reminds me of my awesome trip to Sumatra in Indonesia some 2 years ago; the passion fruit juice I had there was out of this world) and this smells very much like passion fruit to me. So in other words this gets you in the tropical mood sans coconut πŸ˜€
  • When I first used this product I found the texture to be really strange. It is a very thick cream which is quite dense and stiff when you first scoop it out. Surprisingly, when you spread this on your skin it is extremely lightweight and does not sit on top on the skin. It also has no greasy after fell so I think its perfect for summer.

  • This is suitable for normal to dry skin. I don’t find this to be extremely moisturizing although it has a thick texture when you first get it out of the tube.
  • Frankly I bought this for the smell πŸ™‚ and ingredient wise it does not promise to do any magic for your skin. The primary moisturizing ingredient is glycerin and there is some amount of shea butter as well. It does contain grapefruit peel oil, lemon peel oil, mango extract, passion fruit extract and orange extract and it is a blend of all these guys that gives this a really nice smell.

Overall, this was a fun product to try out. Champneys does have some other interesting smelling stuff in their spa indulgence line which I will check out soon :). Have any of you guys tried this or any other Champneys product ?

Until next time ..ciao!

Influenster SurfsUpVoxBox unboxing

Hello folks!

So a month or 2 back I signed up at influenster (here) on a whim since I saw many other bloggers talk about the influenster program. It is free to join and once you join they have some activities you can participate in and earn some points and depending on those scores and also how active you are on social media they randomly choose people to be sent these free boxes called VoxBoxes. The boxes are sent free of charge and they expect you to review the items sent to you. It seems like a fun thing to try out πŸ™‚ I was quite surprised when I found out that I was getting a box since I had just joined but hey I am not complaining!

When I started this blog I never expected to receive any free stuff so i don’t have a proper disclaimer page (which I will put up soon) so for the time being I will just state that all the products mentioned here were sent complimentary to me for testing purposes from influenster. So if your interested in taking a peak in what kind of stuff they sent me ..keep reading πŸ™‚

The SurfsupVoxBox from influenster

So the box came with the following items:

  • Jamba Juice Smoothie Kit coupons:Β

There were 2 coupons in the box. One was for a free all natural smoothie kit from Jamba and another coupon was for 1 $ off any of their smoothie kits. To be honest I have never tried any of their products so it will be fun to test out their smoothie kit if I can find it at my grocery store.

  • Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun Lotion:

I have yet to try it out but I already like the smell of this. Plus since its now officially beach season I can see myself trying it out this weekend πŸ™‚ I will post a review on this after I use this for a while.

  • Β First Aid Shot Therapy:

So this is a FDA compliant liquid pain reliever which can be used to treat headaches, sore muscles and they also claim to help cure hangover headaches :D. I don’t use products like this usually..the husband is slightly more adventurous when it comes to this kind of stuff so I’ll maybe pass this on to him to experiment with!

  • Β SinfulColours Nail polish:Β

I was quite excited to see this in the box! I have never tried Sinful colors although I see it at my local grocery store all the time. The shade I received is called song of summer and its a mint green color.

  • Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Shampoo and Conditioner:

Okay so as per the little card I got along with the box some people got this item and others got the covergirl bombshell curvaceous mascara. I think the mascara would have been more fun to have than this πŸ˜› I have tried hair spray from the not your mother’s brand and it was so so. I am looking forward to testing out this shampoo and conditioner and will let you know what I think. So far I do find the coconut smell these have to be quite overpowering ! Like I said the hair spray did not impress me when I tired it out a long time back, lets see how the shampoo and conditioner pan out.

Overall, I am impressed that Influenster gives out free products to try out to a lot of people. Its always fun to receive a box full of goodies in the mail πŸ™‚

Have a great week ahead..until next time ciao!!

Important note : I received all the products I mentioned in this post complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster.

The Milani Shadow Eyez in Golden Bronze

Hello everybody!!

I have been busy with a whole lot of things happening and I really enjoy writing posts for my blog. I find it relaxing and just realized I have now got 70 followers! That is very exciting news for me since I never imagined that would happen when I started blogging some 3 months back πŸ˜€ So a big thank you to everyone who follows my blog..I really appreciate it and thanks for joining me in my journey uncovering the good, the bad and the ugly in the makeup world!!

I am very excited to write about the Milani Shadow eyez pencil or chubby stick or what ever you want to call it πŸ™‚ I am so glad I picked this up on a recent visit to CVS. It is such a pretty eyeshadow color!

The Milani Shadow Eyez
The Milani Shadow Eyez
  • I picked this up some 3 weeks ago and have been using it on and off since I got it. So the Shadow Eyez are like eyeshadow sticks/eyeliners. The texture is phenomenal for a drugstore is creamy and glides on really smoothly and the pigmentation is off the charts!! need I say more to get you to your nearest CVS? πŸ˜€
  • The shade I picked up is called golden bronze and it comes off looking more golden than bronze but the shade is a real stunner!
Golden Bronze
Golden Bronze
  • I have mostly used this as an eyeshadow and I am really impressed. It does not crease on me even when I am not wearing a primer. They claim to give you 12 hours of wear without creasing or smudging and I find that to be true! I rarely wear makeup for longer than 12 hours at a stretch but I feel this can maybe last longer than 12 hours with a primer!
  • The shade as such is stunning and stands out when you wear it since it has a metallic sheen to it. There are no big chucks of glitter, the finish is metallic or metal foil like on the eyelids.
  • I find this an ideal travel companion! Especially if your off to some place this summer πŸ˜€ You can easily use this for an intense 1 eye shadow look or use it to add some summer glam to your neutral eye look.
  • I also like the fact that its easy to not only apply, but also to remove at the end of the day. I do use an oil based makeup remover to do the job.
  • The only negative I can think is the fact that it is like a traditional pencil and not the twist up kinds that do not require sharpening. So if you do not already own a sharpener for a jumbo pencil you might have to get that as well when you purchase this.

If you are based in the US and have a CVS near you do try get your hands on it soon. I managed to get mine for 50% off the original price so I paid somewhere between 4 to 5 $ for this and that is a neat price tag !

Hope your having a great week…until next time ciao!!!

The Laura Geller Air whipped cream blush in whisper rose

Hey everyone!!

I have mentioned before on my blog how much I like the baked blush from the Laura Geller baked 101 set which I reviewed (here) a while back. Today I am going to talk to you about her cream blush which I think is quite gorgeous too! Now I had purchased the air whipped blush back in January when Laura Geller had a sale on her website. When I check back now, I see that its available only in her kits and not for individual purchase. However, I do see it for sale on amazon and ebay for reasonable prices so if you don’t want to buy a whole kit you can still purchase it individually from these places πŸ™‚

The Laura Geller air whipped Blush
The Laura Geller air whipped Blush
  • This is a cream blush that is advertised as being lightweight, oil free and buildable. I do find the formula to be extremely creamy but at the same time it does not feel heavy on the skin once applied. It is very moist to touch and it gives a nice cooling sensation when applied on the cheeks which I really like πŸ™‚
  • They suggest that you apply this on your cheeks with your fingertips and I feel you do get the best results in this way rather than by using a brush.
  • I think this blush is available in 3 shades: Whisper berry, whisper petal and whisper rose. The shade I have is called Whisper Rose. It is an extremely pretty dusty rosy peach with very fine shimmer. In the pot, it does appear to be really dark as seen in the picture below, but once you apply it on your cheeks the color sheers out.
Whisper Rose
Whisper Rose
  • As you can see I have barely made a dent in the blush pot πŸ˜€ that is because you need very little of the product. It is quite intensely pigmented so you need to be careful when applying this..a little goes a long way!!!
  • The reason why I think this blush is a winner in my books is because it gives a nice luminous sheen to your cheeks. Even on days when I am really tired this blush makes me look healthy and upbeat! I Β recently started using this blush as a sort of ‘base’ for matte blushes and the end result is basically get a lovely glow (without the glitter and sparkles) with matte blushes. I find the combination of whisper rose with the Frat Boy blush from The Balm particularly pretty πŸ™‚
  • One thing I am not a fan of is the packaging! I don’t like the bulky gold dome top which makes it difficult to store and travel with. It would be nice if they repackaged it with a flatter top since the actual product is quite nice.
  • Also once you open the lid, there is another plastic lid which is to prevent the product from drying out. I find that opening and replacing this lid plus using my fingers to apply this blush too much work when I am in a hurry to rush out of the door. In those situations I find it much easier to grab a powder blush.

Overall, I think this is a really pretty blush worth trying. I think the original price is 26$, which I feel is too much to pay for this but if you can find this on sale then I say go for it !! I think I purchased mine on sale for 16$ which I think was a good price to pay πŸ™‚

Have you tried any of the air whipped products from Laura Geller? Let me know what you think of them !!

Until next time , ciao!!

The Coast to Coast Skin Brightening Red Clay Mask

Hey everyone!!

Maybe it was some 3 months back that I first saw the Coast to Coast brand on the Ulta website. It is an Australian brand that sources all their ingredients from Australia and is cruelty free πŸ™‚ I was quite intrigued by their products and decided to test out their red clay clay skin brightening mask…. and boy am I in love with this stuff πŸ˜€

Coast to Coast Skin brightening red clay mask
Coast to Coast Skin brightening red clay mask

From their website I found out that they have 3 categories of skin care products: Coastal for Normal/Dry skin, Rainforest for oily/combination skin and Outback for dehydrated/dull skin. This clay mask falls under the outback category with the focus ingredients being Quandong and Kakadu Plum.

  • Having dry skin I usually shy away from intense clay masks since they tend to dry my skin out further but I found out that red clay is actually quite soothing for dry skin and is not as drying as normal clay masks. I found that this mask did leave my skin feeling brighter and supple and was not drying at all πŸ™‚
  • The mask has a really thick cream like texture as you can see from the photograph below. It goes on smoothly and does not have any funny strong smells.

  • The instructions say to put on the mask for 10 minutes but I keep it a bit longer since usually the mask doesn’t dry in 10 minutes. It applies pink and dries to a light orange shade some 15 to 20 minutes later πŸ™‚ It washes off fairly easily too so no complaints from me on that.
  • The biggest reason why I love this mask so far is that people around me have noticed a difference in my skin and this has been the only new addition to my skin care routine πŸ™‚ So that is saying a lot about this mask I guess πŸ˜€
  • The only negative I can think of is that its in a jar and so you either have to use a spoon to scoop it out or your fingers. But I have to admit I like the frosted glass jar !
  • In case you are interested in the ingredients of this face mask, the main ingredients are clay, aloe vera and glycerin. The mask does have some interesting ingredients listed including the native Australian fruits (i think) Quandong and Kakadu plum.

Has anyone else tried this face mask or any other product from the company Coast to Coast? I might try out some of their other stuff soon since I am quite pleased with this one πŸ™‚

Untill next time..ciao!!

The Milani Ultra Fine Liquid Eyeliner in Black Vinyl

Hello there folks!

I have mostly been a eye pencil girl for as long as I remember. Part of the reason being the ease of use and better precision I get from using khol pencils. The one time I actually tried using a liquid eyeliner resulted in me looking like a Japanese kabuki artist…it was way tooo thick and I looked hideous! I saw many people rave about the Milani liquid eyeliner online and so I thought maybe I should try it out ..especially since it claims to be able to give you an ultra fine line ! I must admit it did take me some getting used to (and slotting in extra time when getting ready) but I am now quite comfortable using this particular liquid liner πŸ™‚ yay!!

Milani Ultra fine eyeliner in Black Vinyl
Milani Ultra fine eyeliner in Black Vinyl
  • First off..when they say this is a black eyeliner..they means the real black like the blackest black. It is a true black with no blue or green undertones so this is really perfect if your looking for a true deep black.
  • One of the biggest reason why I like this is because it is smudge proof. Once the eyeliner dries which happens fairly quickly, there is no way its going to budge unless you use a makeup remover and it stays put for a full day at work or outdoors too. I do not have watery eyes in general but I have a strong feeling it will last even if you bawl your eyes out Β πŸ˜›
  • Also if you are sensitive to smells in makeup products..good news.. I couldn’t detect any unpleasant or funny smells with this product.
  • So this guy which is the blackest black liquid eyeliner I’ve ever seen, pretty much budge proof with no funny smells costs less than 10$. Now that is an awesome deal don’t you think so ? πŸ™‚
The ultra fine tip
The ultra fine tip
  • As you can see from the picture above, the applicator or tip is kind of tapered. Now I think it would have been slightly easier to use if tip were a bit more then the actual drawing of the line would be easier. The non flexible tip might make it a little difficult for novices to apply at first (like myself) but then with a bit of practice I have been able to get the hang of using it. The fine tip does allow for drawing a really fine line and you can also build up the thickness of the line so depending on the occasion you can play up or play down the intensity of the liner.
  • I have to admit..considering how smudge proof and budge proof this is, it can sometimes be a pain to get it off πŸ˜› Don’t get me wrong..its not as tough as removing water proof mascara just that once you use a makeup remover it flakes off your eyelid and the flakes stick around on your face and everywhere it can be a pain sometimes.
  • As you can see from the picture below, this dries to a somewhat glossy/wet finish which I am not a big fan of . I would have loved it if had a matte finish.

Overall, I think its not a bad product at all for the price. I have heard that the formula is not the same across all the different colors in this range and how it can be a little bit watery with some of the other colors. I do not have any issues with the consistency of the black one which is the only color I own from this line .

Hope you guys are having a great week..until next time ciao!!
