Brand Focus: Makeup Love

Hey everyone!!

Today, I got some interesting stuff to share with you! I’d like you guys to get to know the brand Makeup Love which recently burst into the makeup world with some funky looking products. The founder of the brand, Charlotte was kind enough to send me all their main products to test out and here is my very long post on all the goodies the brand has to offer! ๐Ÿ™‚

Makeup Love

Makeup Love

Lets take a look at the mascara, 3 lipglosses and the brand’s unique product called the tower of love one at a time!

1.Love That! Lash Mascara in True Black

They claim that this mascara can help with volume, length and definition of lashes. Now, finding the perfect mascara is very much like foundation shade matching to me..we all have different needs..some of us want length, some want volume and some of us want both. I am always looking out for lengthening mascaras, and this works beautifully for me! ย It does add a bit of volume, but I find it more effective as a lengthening mascara.

Love that Lash! Mascara

Love that Lash! Mascara

As you can see, the brush of this mascara is quite big and the bristles do help prevent clumping of the lashes. I am also impressed with its staying power. They last all day with no flaking and comes off only when you want it to at the end of the day! The formula of the mascara isn’t too thick nor is it too runny..in other words perfect!

2. Lipreme Gloss

There are 3 shades of lip gloss currently sold on their website ; Diamond in the Buff, VIPeach and Smexy. The formula of all these glosses is great! They are not sticky which is a big plus and also provide shine to the lips. All these glosses have tiny shimmer particles in them and while they do not stand out as chunky glitter on the lips I personally prefer not having sparkly shimmer particles in lipglosses.

These glosses are sheer and while they look different in the tube, on my lips I could not differentiate between them. The glosses probably work better if worn on top of a lipstick rather than as a stand alone gloss. They did however maintain their shine on the lips even with light eating and drinking.

3. Tower of Love: For the Love of Peach

I really love the concept of this product! It is essentially an all in one palette in cylinder form. The cylinder is compact and travel friendly. Unlike a traditional makeup palette, this design helps keep your cream and powder products separate and also no worries about your palette flipping open when travelling. ย The tower of love comes in 2 types; for the love of peach and for the love of pink. Lets first take a look at the Peach one!

Tower of Love; For the love of Peach

Tower of Love; For the love of Peach

As you can see from the pic above, the tower consists of several components that can be stacked together to give you a single portable cylinder or tower which you can easily move around with. The love of Peach comes with the following:

  • ย Liplock lip cream in the shades Peachy and Crazed Coral : These are more thick in consistency and have more color to them than the lipreme glosses. They can be a tad bit sticky but not annoyingly sticky! The only thing I do not like is the brush which comes with these; I prefer using my own lip brush or fingers ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Brow Powder in brown and wet/dry eyeliner in blackย : The powders are of very good quality. They are finely milled and pigmented. These can also be used as eyeshadows as well! I did use the black eyeliner dry and was impressed with its lasting power.
  • Weyed Open Eyeshadow in Leather and Lace: I really like these 2 shades and as with the eyeliner and brow powder, they are finely milled, pigmented and easy to blend.
  • Cheeka blush in Crush: This is my absolute favorite item in this tower of love! As you will see from the swatches below, it adds the perfect peachy sheen to your cheeks! The blush is pigmented and does not fade as the day goes by.
  • Get Perfect Powder in the shade Bare: This worked great as an oil control finishing powder on my medium skintone. I am not sure if it would work for anyone a few shades deeper than mine though since it has a pink beige color to it.

In case you’ve been wondering how these look up close, check out the swatch fest below! ๐Ÿ˜€

ย 4. Tower of Love : For the Love of Pink

This is the other Tower of Love available! The main theme of this tower being you guessed it..Pink! ๐Ÿ™‚ The set of items you get in this tower is very different from the previous one. You can always pick up both the towers and mix and match and make your own custom tower to take along in your handbag. Pretty neat huh!

Tower of Love: For the Love of Pink

Tower of Love: For the Love of Pink

For the love of Pink comes with the following products:

  • Liplock lip cream in the shades Candy and Kiss: These have the same formula as the peach tower ones. Again my only gripe with these the brush that is included!
  • Weyed Awake Illuminating concealer/eyeshadow base duo: I was really suprised by these! I love the texture; it is creamy and easy to blend into the skin. For deeper skin tones these might work better as an eyeshadow base than concealer. They do not cling to dry patches and last all day.
  • Weyed Open eyeshadow in Pink Bubbly and Caviar: I really like these shades! As with the eyeshadows in the Peach tower, they are pigmented, blend able and finely milled.
  • Cheeka blush in Flush: This is a pretty matte hot pink blush ๐Ÿ™‚ It looks lovely on the cheeks and as with all their powder products, lasts all day!
  • Get glowing Bronzer in Golden: This a very dark rich brown shade. Although it has some shimmer, I managed to contour successfully with this bronzer since the shimmer is very subtle!

Now for some swatches!!

Finally, here is an eye look I created using the shades Leather and Lace. They are subtle yet pretty on the lid, making them appropriate for work. I have also used the Love that! lash mascara and the powder eyeliner in black .

Overall, I really like their mascara and powder products. The tower of love is a really neat idea and in the future if they release more of them, it will be fun to mix and match the different tiers to create your own tower! If you want to know more about the brand or want to pick up some of their products, head over to www.makeuplovecosmetics.com.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Until next time..ciao!!

September Pinchme unboxing !

Hey folks!

Hope your having a great week! I signed up for Pinchme when I first heard about it some 3 to 4 months ago and last month I finally managed to snag my first box ! For those of you who are not aware of Pinchme ..let me explain ๐Ÿ™‚ Pinchme is kind of like Influenster but less bothersome in my opinion. It is a free sample program where you fill in some questionnaires when you join and depending on your answers a few sample products are available for you to chose ย to be shipped to your address for free once a month. The samples are available on a particular Tuesday of the month and the exact date and time are announced by Pinchme on social media and also on their website.

Pinchme sample box

Pinchme sample box

After you get your samples, you try them out and answer a few questions on their site. They also do monthly prizes for those who actively share their product experiences on social media. This seems to be a wildly popular site and so if you don’t log into your account fast enough on the specific date and time you might not get any samples..which is what happened to me for the first 2 months! However last month I got lucky and so here I am to share with you what I received!

Samples from the September Pinchme box

Samples from the September Pinchme box

I received a total of 5 items and as you can see some of them are quite random (Mr sketch scented marker anyone?) so I am not sure how much the samples available to you depend on your questionnaire answers. Lets take a look at each of the items I got ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Mr Sketch Scented Marker

Like I said, I am not sure why they chose me to give this sample to! I don’t have kids and remember mentioning that when signing up. This is a blue marker which is cherry scented…not a fan of the scent. However, I might pass this on to my niece or friends kids who might enjoy it more than I will ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Gevalia House Blend Coffee

Although I am not a big time coffee drinker I do enjoy a cup of coffee once in a while so I was happy to get this! I have tried Gevalia coffee before and I like the taste. This one sachet can brew 4 cups of coffee..not bad eh?

3.Pure Via Stevia Sweetner

Nope, not in my cup of tea! I don’t use anything other than natural cane sugar so this is ย going to a friend to try out!

4.Eco tools Pure complexion facial sponge

This is the product I was most excited about! This is a Konjac sponge for sensitive skin and if you keep up with beauty trends, you’ll know that this is quite popular right now in the skincare world. Konjac is the root of a japanese plant that has been used by the japanese for a long time as a cleansing sponge and is now catching the attention of everyone outside of Japan as well. Look out for a full review on this in the coming weeks!!

5.American Crew Power cleanser style remover

I have seen this in target but never paid any attention to it. That might change if I like this sample ๐Ÿ™‚ since I am currently looking for a deep cleanse shampoo.

Hope you guys liked this post! Do check out pinchme , they keep adding more brands to their portfolio and each month so far, is very different from the previous one!

Until next time …ciao!!

Around the world via beauty products: FACE Stockholm from Sweden !

Hello everyone!!

So a couple of weeks ago I had started the around the world series on my blog (Intro HERE) with our first stop being France (HERE). Today the second installment of this series takes us to lovely Sweden ๐Ÿ™‚ When I think of Swedish products the adjectives that comes to mind are sleek, functional, practical and simple elegance. The brand from Sweden we are discussing today embodies all these qualities! I am sure atleast some of you are familiar with the brand FACE Stockholm. FACE Stockholm started off in Sweden in 1982 and is now available in the US and other European countries.

FACE Stockholm

FACE Stockholm

FACE Stockholm has an extensive array of products from makeup products and brushes to body and skincare. Today lets take a look at 2 products from the line; namely the lipstick and cream eyeshadow ๐Ÿ™‚

1.Lipstick

The founder of FACE Stockholm started the brand since she wanted to have makeup of every possible color and this is truly reflected in the mind boggling shade range they have when it comes to their lipstick collection! I had a hard time choosing a shade from the 148 shades of lipstick on their website!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ I finally settled for the shade named Cool and am quite happy with the color!

Face Stockholm lipstick in Cool

Face Stockholm lipstick in Cool

I love the packaging of the lipstick. It comes in a nice sleek metal tube. The lipsticks from FACE Stockholm come in 3 finishes; matte, creamy and subtle veil. The shade Cool is in the creamy finish and it does apply beautifully on the lips. Although the lipstick does not have as much slip as traditional creamy lipsticks, it is not drying either. So if your looking for a non drying creamy finish lipstick without the slipperiness that comes with most creamy lippies then this one might be for you!

Swatch on arm and on lips!

Swatch on arm and on lips!

Although I generally shy away from cool toned pinks I really like this one! It has a really rich pigmentation to it and does not fade too much with eating and drinking. Understandably, the initial luster might go away after some eating/drinking but the pigment stays on the lips far longer. I also did not notice any bleeding. yay !!

2. Cream eyeshadow or Kramogonskugga as they say in Sweden!

I was excited to try this out! I don’t have too many cream eyeshadow products and at heart I think I will always be a powder shadow girl ๐Ÿ˜€ I chose the shade Chintz since it was a nice light shade which can be used all over the lid for any occasion or as a base for powder eye shadows.

Cream shadow in Chintz

Cream shadow in Chintz

I absolutely love the texture of this cream shadow! Its like touching creamy butter ๐Ÿ˜€ It has a shimmer finish and looks fantastic as an all over the lid neutral shade. For my medium skin tone it worked well as a shade to perk up tired looking eyes. I tested this out when attending a wedding where a lot of dancing and running around was involved ( read sweaty ) and was impressed with how well this held up. I did not notice any creasing or fading at the end of the day (I did use a primer since I always use a primer when attending events)
I do have to warn you though that the jar is tiny! There is 4g of product in the jar and the neck of the jar is quite tiny. If you have long nails and want to get some product out with your fingertips you might experience some difficulty.

Overall, I love these 2 items that I tried out from FACE Stockholm! The quality and colors are top notch!

I hope your enjoying the the around the world in beauty series as much as I am! Its a fantastic way to discover some lovely products originating from different parts of the world ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time…ciao!!

H20 Spa sea moss black sand scrub

Hey everyone!!

Hope your week has been going great so far! A while back I finally finished my Body Shop argan oil body scrub reviewed HERE and since that has been discontinued I was on the lookout for something new and fun to try out. The H2O spa sea moss and black sand scrub looked interesting enough; its not every day that you come across a volcanic sand scrub!

H2O black sea moss and sand scrub

H2O black sea moss and black sand body scrub

I generally like the packaging of H2o products; they are sleek and simple in design and this tube of body scrub is no different. The smell of this body scrub is very subtle and mild which I quite like. The particles in the scrub are quite course and do provide a good sloughing off of dead skin from the body. It was difficult to capture a snap of the ingredient list written on the tube so I have listed it out below in case your curious! ๐Ÿ™‚

Water/Eau/Aqua, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Acrylates Copolymer, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Polyethylene, Cocamide MEA, Silicon Dioxide, Silica, Propanediol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Shell Powder, Volcanic Black Sand, Triethanolamine, Polysorbate 20, Fragrance/Parfum, Aluminum Oxides, Panthenol, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Sea Salt (Maris Sal), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Sodium Oxide, Potassium Oxide, Disodium EDTA, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Magnesium Oxide, Calcium Oxide, Phenoxyethanol, Methylisothiazolinone, Titanium Oxide, Iron oxide, Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Blue 1 (CI 42090), Red 33.

To be honest I was quite disappointed with the ingredient list especially since a tube of this costs something like 20 bucks at Ulta. I was hoping for some better ingredients. The sodium lauryl sulfate along with theย Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Cocamide MEA ย helps lather up the scrub in the bath. The volcanic sand along with the coconut shell powder act as pretty good scrubbing agents. I am guessing that the sea moss is the carrageenan extract which is a sea weed.

The scrub does make your skin soft and smooth after use. The only major issue with the scrub is that it can clog up your tub/ shower area since the sand and coconut shell particles do not dissolve in water and hence collect at the drain area. This scrub is an intensive one as well..if you have extremely delicate skin it is best not to use too much pressure or force when using this product.

Overall, I am quite impressed with the performance of the scrub. However, I am not sure if carrageenan (not a very expensive ingredient) has any benefits for your skin to justify the price tag of the product. Although the volcanic sand sounds like an exotic ingredient I wonder how exclusive of an ingredient it is. The detergent agents used are all commonly found even in much cheaper drug store body washes and scrubs. Hence although the product as such works I am not sure if the price tag justifies a repurchase.

Have you tried any of the body scrubs from the H2O brand? What do you like or don’t like about them?

Until next time…ciao!

Brand Focus: Maple Holistics

Hello folks!

Hope your having a great week so far! Today lets take a look at company whose products are based on a natural and holistic approach to solving beauty problems. They have an impressive selection of shampoos all formulated to target specific issues you might have with your hair. Additionally, they have bath and body products and also skincare products.

Maple Holistics

Maple Holistics

The company was kind enough to send me a Shampoo and conditioner in addition to their Dead Sea mineral youth mud mask. The first shipment they send me was lost and their customer service rep was awesome enough to immediately dispatch another package via express post ๐Ÿ™‚ . I feel customer service is as important as the product itself so in case you plan to order from them, your in good hands!! Lets talk about the products now shall we?

Argan Oil Shampoo

This shampoo is described as an all in one shampoo which can help with increase hair strength, soothe dry and itchy scalps and can be used for all hair types. The shampoo is sulfate and artificial fragrance free.

The shampoo did not have any particular smell and I found it comfortable to use. It did not dry my hair or scalp out which is a good thing. I generally do not have issues with hair strength so I cannot comment on the hair strength claim. But overall, I like that the shampoo can lather up a bit despite being sulfate free.

Silk 18 conditioner

This conditioner is also designed to be used for any hair type and it promises silky shiny hair. They have also used natural vanilla to scent the product. I really enjoyed using this conditioner! It smells good and it did deliver on the promise of soft and smooth hair.

I have used this in conjunction with the Argan oil shampoo and also with other shampoos and it works well always!

Dead Sea Mud Mask

They had sent me the trail size of all their products and the trial size of the mud mask is very generous! I was excited to try this out since hey who doesn’t love a little TLC once in while! I was also impressed to see that there weren’t too many ingredients for this mask. Take a look at the ingredient list:

Ingredient List

Ingredient List

They use 100% dead sea mud for this mask and along with that, the other ingredients like lavender oil, sage and chamomile make this a very holistic face mask. The mask dries quickly within the suggested 10 minute time frame. My skin felt soft, smooth and tightened after using this. This mask will be great for oily skin! If your like me and have dry skin you might have to moisturize after using this mask.

The only thing I did not like about the mask was the very strong lavender smell! When you first apply it, it is really strong but within a minute it does tone down to a more pleasant version. If you do not like the smell of lavender then this might not work for you.

Overall, I enjoyed using these products! The face mask will work wonders for oily skin folks! The shampoo and conditioner are the best sulfate free ones I have tried in a while! Check out their website to see what other exciting products they offer:ย http://www.mapleholistics.com/

Until next time ..ciao!!

Blue shimmer and sparkle

Hello everyone!

I recently got my hands on the LORAC pro 2 palette and have been experimenting with it quite a bit. On a rainy day with nothing else to do, I created an extremely easy shimmery look (probably appropriate for a wild night out!) using the pro 2 palette and the 3D liquid lustre in Diamond from LORAC.

Shimmer all the way!

Shimmer all the way!

Of course you can Jazz this up with winged black eyeliner or even another contrasting color on the lower waterline. This is a really easy eye look you can use if you plan to dress up as an ice queen this Halloween ๐Ÿ˜€

The 3 step look

The 3 step look

Step 1: Apply the shade Navy (isn’t it gorgeous) from the LORAC pro 2 palette all over the lid.

Step2: Darken the outer corner of your eye using the black shade from the same palette.

Step 3: Shake the bottle of LORAC liquid lustre vigorously to mix the pigment well. Then take a drop of it on your finger tip and gently pat all over the eye. Voila!!

Voila!

Voila!

Trust me , this looks way sparkly in person than in the pics ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you guys are having a great week!

Until next time…ciao!!

Brand Focus: Facade Beauty

Hello folks!

I love discovering new brands of makeup all the time! Its almost like finding diamonds in the rough! Today I would love to introduce you guys to one such gem that I recently stumbled upon. Facade Beauty is a Texan brand focusing on the needs of women living in the southern parts of the USA; for the girls who have to battle humidity on a regular basis. Having lived in tropical places I know how frustrating it can be to have makeup melt off your face so I was thrilled when I got the chance to play around and test some of their products!

Facade Beauty

Facade Beauty

This is going to be a long post! I was sent eye shadows, blushes, eyeliners, foundation and a lipliner to try out, so lets jump into them one at a time ๐Ÿ™‚

Eyeshadows

If you checkout their website, you will be spoilt for choice! They have a phenomenal shade range. I had a hard time picking out the 4 shades you see in the palette. The eyeshadows are sold individually in pans that you can them assemble into the magnetic palette. I think it is cool that you can assemble your own palette! Now,here is a closer look at the shadows I picked out..

Clockwise the shades are Baja, Solana, Delano and Agarita

Clockwise the shades are Baja, Solana, Delano and Agarita

Baja is a lovely rose gold color and Solana is a sheer gold. Both these shades are beautiful!! I also love the green (Delano) and the Plum shade (Agarita). These shadows are probably my favorite items from the brand! They are very finely milled, pigmented and look beautiful in the pan, swatched and on the lid. The silky texture of these shadows are a testament to their fine quality!

Swatches and on the lid!

Swatches and on the lid!

These shadows can be used both wet and dry. Here in the swatches and on my eye I have used them dry ๐Ÿ™‚ These shadows last the whole day on the lid with no creasing. yay! For the eye look shown here I used Solana in the inner corners of my eye, Delano in the center of the lid, Aagarita in the outer corner and Baja as the brow bone highlight. I then used the eyeliner in Voodoo to finish things up! That brings us to the next awesome product from Facade; the eyeliners!

Eyeliners

I tried 3 of the eyeliners from Facade. They all glide on really smoothly with no tugging which is good news! The eyeliners are the twist up kinds and they come with a smudge tip on the other end.

Facade Eyeliners

Facade Eyeliners

The 3 shades I picked out were Lorelei which is a pretty pearly dark gold, perfect for the lower waterline, Lido a rich deep blue and Voodoo a shimmery plum shade which I used for the eye look shown above.

Swatches: Lorelei at the top followed by Voodoo and Lido

Swatches: Lorelei at the top followed by Voodoo and Lido

I think my favorite shade is Lido! Its such a lovely blue ๐Ÿ™‚

Lipliner

I was sent the lipliner in the shade Vanity. It is a pinky nude shade which is almost my natural lip color. I did not find the lip liner as smooth as the eyeliners but they do help prepping your lips for lipsticks that can potentially bleed.

Lipliner in Vanity

Lipliner in Vanity

Foundation

I was really excited to try out the foundation samples since I wanted to check how long it will last before I turn into a grease ball. Since I live in the cooler and drier north eastern part of the country, I decided that the best way to check if the foundation can withstand humidy, heat and sweat was to wear it on a long hiking trip ๐Ÿ˜€ ย I can sum up my feelings about this foundation in 3 words: I love it!!

Facade Foundation

Facade Foundation

I was told that the best way to apply the foundation was to use a damp beauty sponge or beauty blender. I love the natural flawless finish I got with this! It did not irritate my skin either. As for the staying power, I am very happy to report that after 12 hours of wear there was barely any shine. The foundation held up really well when I wore it for the hiking trip despite the heat and sweat. Overall, this foundation is awesome and I am sure it works well in 101 F weather too! These bottles are coming with me the next time I fly down south!

Blushes

I have an obsession with blushes and again like the eye shadows it was difficult to chose 2 shades since there were so many choices! The blushes are also sold in individual pans which can then be placed in the palette.

Facade Blushes

Facade Blushes: True love and Valencia on the left and blended swatches on the right

True love is a matte pink and Valencia is a matte orange coral shade. Although both these shades look bright in the pan they look very soft and natural when blended into the skin as seen in the swatches. Both the shades are easy to blend and are not chalky at all unlike some other matte blushes. I did not notice any fading with these blushes. They can easily last 8 hours.

The 19s brush

Along with the eyeshadows I was also sent an awesome brush! ๐Ÿ™‚ It is their 19S brush and I love how soft it feels. It is excellent for packing on shadow on the lid. I did not notice any shedding and I am generally impressed with the quality of the brush. For the eye look I created I did use this brush mostly.

The 19S Brush

The 19S Brush

If I have to chose 2 favorites from this list of items I think the eyeshadows and foundation steal the cake! Which of these things are you dying to try? Do visit their website atย http://www.facadebeauty.com/ย and check out the the rest of their collection!
