If you are active on social media, you would have noticed that metallic finish liquid lipsticks are the current rage. However, the intense metallic finish and the dryness associated with liquid lipsticks might not be everyone’s cup of tea (including me). I have never really been a fan of lipsticks with glitter or shimmer in them but I do have 3 drugstore lipsticks which when worn are super comfortable but have a slight metallic sheen when it catches the light.
I thought I’d share those with you guys today, incase someone is on the hunt for a drugstore lip stick that gives a muted metallic shine 🙂
The 3 lipsticks I have in my collection are the Revlon super lustrous lipsticks in pearl finish and a Maybelline colorsensational lipstick. The formula on both these lines is excellent. The 2 Revlon lipsticks are Iced Amethyst and Wine with everything, both as mentioned before are pearl finishes. The Maybelline one which can look metallic on the lips is Ruby Star. I believe Revlon has a few more shades in the pearl finish which can give a metallic shine on the lips.
As you can see from the swatches above, the 3 lipsticks do have a muted metallic shine. I recently rediscovered these and have been enjoying the muted metallic effect on my lips. These are comfortable and they do not highlight the lines of your lips.
Have you tried these? What do you think of the metallic liquid lipstick trend?
Hello everyone!! Hope you all are having a great weekend! I am generally careful of the eyeliners I use on my waterline, simply because I am terrified of irritating my eyes! I came across reviews that said the Rimmel Exaggerate waterproof eye definer is a great drugstore option for sensitive eyes and so decided to try it out. I have been using this for a while and good news!…it doesn’t irritate my eyes.
I have this in the shade Noir, which to be honest is not the blackest black I have seen. The eye definer is a skinny twist up pencil, which means no sharpening..yay! At the end of the skinny pencil, there is a smudger which can be pulled out and below the smudger is a sharpener..super cool!
The pencil glides on smoothly, with no tugging. Once applied, if you would like to smudge the line, you need to act fast since it sets pretty quickly and once it sets it is pretty smudge proof. I find that this pencil works best for the waterline as opposed to the top lashline. The color fades and starts to smudge when I use this on my lashline. However, this stays pretty well on the waterline much to my surprise!
As you can see from the swatch above, this is not the most intense black liner out there. In fact, when I was trying to take a picture of the swatch, it looked more brown that black on my camera screen!
Overall, I do find this a good eyeliner for the price! My only major issue with this liner is that it is not black enough. I think it is a great drugstore option if you have sensitive eyes and you are looking for an eyeliner for the waterline.
Hello folks! As I mentioned in my last week’s blog post, I am currently chilling out at my parent’s place. They are currently based in Oman, a lovely quiet country in the middle east. You can find all the global brands here and also some interesting new items in the local beauty stores 🙂 I got a chance to try out a body moisturizer from the brand Himalaya Herbals which I picked up from the local drugstore. The cream is made in the Dubai but the original brand is from India, so I thought I should include this in the around the world via beauty products section of the blog!
The body cream comes packed in a tub, and with no outer box. The packaging is okay, nothing fabulous. A little online search reveals that the company Himalaya Herbals products are based on the ancient Indian system of Ayurveda, where they use plant and herb extracts in their products. This moisturizer has extracts of Aloe Vera and Winter Cherry according to the label, however there is no comprehensive ingredient list so I do not know the other ingredients in this moisturizer. This is the only major issue I have with this moisturizer.
The moisturizer has a lovely whipped light texture which is absorbed quickly and does not leave a greasy after feel, making this a pretty good moisturizer for the summer months! The best part about this moisturizer is the smell…I love it! It is a very fresh, light scent which is not too fruity nor is it too floral. It is a nice blend of fruity floral which is very spring summer appropriate in my opinion 🙂
Overall, I am enjoying this moisturizer although the lack of a comprehensive ingredient list is a bit of a let down. I would love to try their face products but again the lack of an actual ingredient list is making me really hesitant to try them.
Have you tried anything from Himalaya Herbals? Let me know what you think of them if you have 🙂
Happy Mother’s day to all the lovely moms out there! I am currently visiting my parents and thought it would be fun to write about beauty stuff my mom is currently using in her routine.
Bath and Body Works shower gel and body lotion in Dark Kiss: My mom recently got hooked to these! Dark Kiss has notes of black rasberry and velvet rose. I find the scent similar to brown sugar which is one of my favorites too! It is a heavy scent but smells lovely to use before bedtime.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Iced Amethyst: The Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks are some of the best drugstore lipsticks that have been around for a while. The formula is great and the shade range is phenomenal. My mom has several shades in her collection but Iced Amethyst which is a pearl finish is one of her current favorites. I have always stayed away from pearl finishes, since they can sometimes look frosty on the lips but this one looks great! no 80s frost vibe!
Dior Nail varnish in Candy Pink: The formula on this one is a bit of a let down but mom loves this for the color. The color is a fun but neutral work appropriate pink. The varnish does need 2 coats though so it is probably not something she will repurchase.
L’oreal Revitalift Mositurizing cream: My mom generally has great skin! In fact she got into the anti wrinkle cream bandwagon only recently and finds this great for her skin. She did try out a couple of brands, high end and drug store and finds this one the best for her skin. She has dry skin and finds this works well in terms of moisturizing and firming.
Hope you enjoyed this little twist to the regular stuff on the blog!
Hello everyone! I have heard so many people talk about how awesome the essence lip liners are and decided to try them out recently, and was really happy with the performance. I picked up the shade Satin mauve which is a heavily brown based mauve.
The shade is pretty but not as warm as I hoped it would be. Satin mauve is a very cool toned shade, at least on my lips. The lip liner glides on effortlessly and feels really comfortable on the lips. I like to apply this on my lips and top it off with a lip balm for extra moisture.
The lip liner is really creamy despite being in the old style wooden pencil format. The lasting power is also great and with a price tag of 2$ (I think that was how much I paid) this is a real gem at the drug store!
I might try out some of the other shades in this range. I already have my eyes on red blush which looks like a fun red to try! Although these are designed to be lip liners , I have been using this as a sort of matte lip color with some lip balm for long lasting moisture.
Overall, I find this a real steal! The only negative is that this is not the twist up kind so you have to sharpen them. I did see that the Essence has come out with a twist up version of lip liners which I will check out soon too!
Have you tried any of the Essence lip liners? What are your thoughts on them?
