Jeanne En Provence Brand Review : Soaps, shower oils and hand creams

Hello folks!!

Merry Christmas! I was unable to post this earlier on, since I was under the weather the week before Christmas. Then came the weekend where we got super busy prepping and hosting a huge lunch for our friends. After all the Christmas madness here I am back to blogging 😀 Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I am now looking forward to the next round of parties and luncheons coming up this weekend 😉

Jeanne En Provence is a family owned business that has been around since 1978 and their products are from you guessed it..the Provence area in France 🙂 They work with the local farmers there and most of their products are made in the region. I was curious about the brand since they are reasonably priced and they had a good range of scents to try out too.

I was most excited to try out their bar soaps because I have been a soap junkie since I was 4 years old. My grandmother used to get gifts from her acquaintances when they returned from trips abroad, and many a times it was fancy soap. She would keep them aside for me since I was, according to her, the only 4 year old who appreciated the smell of fine soap. Jeanne En Provence very kindly send me their soap gift set which has 4 different soaps and also the soap in the scent Peony.

The soaps in the gift  set come in 4 scents: Fleur d’Oranger, Verveine, Rose and Lavender. I think my favorite scents are Verviene and Rose. I really liked the Peony scented Soap too which is sold separately. I might try the other products in the Peony range since I am into floral scents and the soap smells divine. All the soaps have a pleasant smell which is not overpowering. They give a nice creamy lather too. Overall, I think these soaps are great for the price and are comparable to artisan french soaps which I have tried in the past.

I was also sent 2 products from their Divine Olive collection, namely, the Divine Olive Multipurpose dry oil and also the Divine Olive shower oil. The scent of these products don’t immediately strike me as Olive probably since I have never really smelt fresh Olive leaves or fresh olive flowers. There is a slight floral smell mixed in with a bit of cut grass smell I think. I don’t think I can describe the scent..you jut have to smell it for yourself 🙂

The Multipurpose dry oil and Shower oil from the Jeanne En Provence Divine Olive collection

I like the multi purpose dry oil as a post shower moisturizer for my skin. It sinks in and doesn’t leave a greasy after feel. This is a multi purpose oil which can be used on the face and hair as well. I am usually very careful about what I put on my face since my facial skin is super sensitive. I might try this out on my hair sometime! Have you tried the Jeanne En Provence multipurpose oil on your face or hair?

The shower oil is not what I expected. I thought it would be more like the almond shower oil from L’occitaine or the shower oils from Rituals. Those shower oils are very thin in consistency. This one however is thick like a shower gel. In addition to Olive oil, this also contains another interesting ingredient called Soapwort which is used in the French country side to wash skin and hair due to its gentle cleansing properties. I found the shower oil to be a very gentle version of a traditional shower gel. It leaves a nice scent on your skin and does not strip your skin off of moisture. I think its perfect for the winter months!

Jeanne En Provence also sent me 2 of their hand creams. They leave a nice velvet layer on your hands. They are perfect to use just before you stuff your hands in winter gloves and dash out the door for some outdoor fun in the winter.

Jeanne En Provence Handcreams

Again scent wise if you are a lover of floral scents the Rose and the Jasmine hand creams will smell like heaven to you. I am usually not a fan of Jasmine scents since I find the scent too over powering. This hand cream however is lightly scented and is more crisp and clean smelling than most Jasmine heavy scents I have tried in the past.

Overall, I am really impressed with the brand and I think more people should be talking about Jeanne En Provence! Have you tried anything from the brand? If not, why not treat yourself to something from the brand to ring in the new year 😀 They currently have a sale on their gift boxes!! (HERE)

Until next time, ciao!!!

2018 Holiday Gift Guide : Shea Butter handcreams from Lollia

Hello folks!

The days are really flying by now! Christmas is around the corner and I know from experience that a lot of us are not yet done with our holiday shopping. I discovered the brand Lollia a really long time ago while browsing the Anthropologie website. I fell in love with the exquisite packaging and the products looked so luxurious and tempting. I never really got around to trying the brand..it kind of got put on the back burner. The other day while waking around T.J Maxx I found these handcreams 🙂 Since they were at T.J Maxx, you guessed it..they were heavily discounted! So if you are looking to try these yourself or gift them, go check out your local T.J Maxx!

Lollia Hand creams in Believe and Inspire

These hand creams are incredible! Not only do they have pleasant but not overpowering type of scents, the formula is top notch. They are not very thick, spread easily and moisturize effectively. I find them as moisturizing as the L’occitaine shea butter handcreams without the heavy oily after feel. That is saying a lot because I really love the L’occitaine hand creams!

So beautiful!!!

The only minor downside was that I needed to poke the seal open since it was not a peel off foil but a metal seal. That is not a deal breaker in anyway..it was easy to poke it open. Just thought I’d let you guys know!

I think with these I pretty much hit the jackpot for stocking stuffers! They look exquisite, smell amazing, have an amazing formula and a price tag of 3$ each for a 1.25oz tube. I might keep these for myself since I will need plenty of hand cream this winter!

Hope you all are enjoying the month of December!

Until next time, ciao!!!

2018 Holiday Gift Guide : Fine Salt Scrubs from The Cottage Greenhouse

Hello folks!

In our third installment of the Indie brand Gift guide series I am giddy with excitement to talk about The Cottage Greenhouse. I don’t remember how I found the brand..maybe I saw them in an Indie beauty brand list but I do remember getting super excited when I visited their website! They have the most beautifully and aesthetically done packaging :).  I also had an ah ha moment because guess what, this brand is part of the Margot Elena group of brands. I have always had a girl crush on Margot Elena because of how beautifully she presents her products and the attention to details, which makes the perfectionist side of me really happy. Her brands like Tokyo Milk, Library of Flowers and Lollia all have products perfect for gifting. In fact, my next installment in the gift guide series is also going to be a Margot Elena brand 😉 Stay tuned for that one too!

The Cottage Greenhouse has a lovely range of lotions, body butters and scrubs which are perfect for pampering yourself or a favorite person in your gift list 😀 I picked up 2 of their fine salt body scrubs to feature in this gift guide series.

Fine Salt scrubs from the Cottage Greenhouse

The Carrot and Neroli fine salt scrub is listed as one of Oprah’s favorites 🙂 The scent of this body scrub is fresh and crisp. This is a bit of a summer scent to me so I’ll probably dig into this scrub in the summer time! The scent of the Wild Ginger and Agave scrub actually surprised me. I was expecting a very spicy woody scent but instead it is best described as being warm and sweet. It feels very invigorating and cozy at the same time to use this in the shower. It is the perfect companion for a nice warm winter bath.

As I mentioned a million times already, I love the packaging! It is so elegant and the plastic square tubs have a good weight to them and feel expensive. I also like the little details in the illustrations and the details around the tub. Unfortunately, I do not have the beautiful exterior packaging these scrub came in…I have a toddler in the house who sometimes runs off with stuff which you might then never see again 😀

Love the attention to details when it comes to packaging!

These are fine salt scrubs so they are not going to feel ‘crunchy’ or rough when you rub them over your damp skin. They are creamy to the touch and have enough exfoliating power to leave your skin feeling smooth.

Creamy and rich in texture!

They also have moisturizing ingredients like shea butter in them so your skin does not feel totally stripped after exfoliating. The ingredient list for both the scrubs is slightly different (obviously). Check out the full list of ingredients on their website. (HERE)

Overall, I am very impressed with the salt scrubs. I would love to try their body butters next! Have you tried any products from the cottage greenhouse?

Until next time,ciao!!!

2018 Holiday Gift Guide :Body Butters and Castor oil sets from Kreyol Essence

Hello folks!

How about some ethically sourced beauty products from Haiti for the loved ones on your gift list this year? Sounds good huh..let me introduce you to Kreyol Essence. I love the story behind the brand and also how the brand is focused on creating jobs for the locals in Haiti, especially women! Their star product is Black Castor oil from Haiti which is great for your hair and skin.

I love products developed on long standing ancient wisdom from different cultures because there is usually an ounce of truth in grandma’s beauty secrets ( unless it has been proven dangerous by modern science). I was thus quite excited to try out Kreyol Essence products since I have heard about castor oil being great for your hair and eyebrows but never knew that it was a great moisturizer for your skin too! Check out their website (HERE) to learn more about the brand, castor oil and how they are a social impact driven company.

I got a chance to try out their body butters, available in 4 scents; Lavender Hibiscus, Haitian Vetiver, Cafe au lait and Mango, Papaya Coconut Rhum Punch.

Kreyol Essence Body Butters

I can attest to the fact that Cafe au lait and Mango, Papaya Coconut Rhum punch smell delicious enough to eat! (Do not eat!! :D) Lavender Hibiscus and Haitian Vetiver have very soothing and calming scents..perfect to slather on to your skin after a late night shower to lull you into dreamland.

The body butters are triple whipped and look so dreamy in the tub (again makes me want to eat them 😀 ).

Triple whipped and luxurious!

All of these body butters are infused with Haitian Castor seed oil and enriched with a whopping 30% of shea butter. They do not contain any parabens, mineral oil or petroleum products. I really like the ingredient list of these body butters. Take a look!

I think these body butters make fantastic gifts..they are available in different sizes so you can always pick up a few of the smaller sizes as stocking stuffers!

When Kreyol Essence sent me these body butters they also sent along 3 vials of their scented Haitian Black Castor oils. These can be used on the hair, scalp or as a post shower body oil. I plan to test them out as body oil since they smell amazing! They sent me the chocolate, Rosemary Mint and Lavender Hibiscus. I can smell them without opening the seal completely. I didn’t open them up completely since I didn’t want these to go rancid… I am currently going through my stash of body oil you see 🙂
