Kiko Milano Long lasting eyeshadow stick

Hello folks!

I have always wanted to try the Laura Mercier caviar sticks, but somehow that purchase keeps getting pushed to the back burner. One of the reasons being my doubts on if I’ll actually use it enough. Cream products always land up in the back of my drawer since I kind of skim over them when hurrying out the door. The Kiko Milano long lasting eyeshadow sticks are touted as being dupes for the Laura Mercier ones, so when I got a chance to visit a Kiko store I decided to try one out. And not surprisingly (like a lot of the Kiko stuff I’ve tried) I am in love!

The kiko ones are more cost effective compared to the Laura Mercier ones especially if they have a sale going on. I don’t remember how much I paid but it was below the 10$ mark for sure!

I picked up the shade 38 which is lovely taupe with specks of gold shimmer. It reminds a little of the Blink 1982 shadow from The Balm Jovi Palette by The Balm.

The shadow sticks applies beautifully. No tugging no nonsense..just the perfect creamy glide over the lids. The shadow is super pigmented too and lives up to the 8 hour no transfer claims. I have used it with and without primer and it does not budge or crease.

I find myself using the shadow stick for a quick eye look before dashing out of the door. These can also be used as bases for other eyeshadows and can be blended within the first 30 seconds or so after application. They set and become budge proof after that!

Overall, I highly recommend the Kiko Milano eyeshadow sticks! They have the perfect price tag, are pigmented, long lasting and also very travel friendly. I plan to pick up a few more shades. Do you have any shade recommendations?

Until next time, ciao !!!

Summer time makeup !

Hello folks!!

Now that summer has officially rolled in ..it is time to change up your makeup game (if you like to change it according to the season!). I usually wear what I feel like wearing irrespective of the season but summer time I usually avoid liquid foundation and try to get a more glow y and dewy look.Β So here are a few picks from my makeup stash that I see myself using quite a bit this summer!

Summer time makeup

I just realized that I forgot to include sunscreen in the photograph above! oops!! Β Don’t forget the sunscreen folks! Its the most important item for your summer time makeup and skincare πŸ™‚

1. Laura Geller Balance and Brighten Foundation in FairΒ

I love this foundation! I have the travel size from one of her kits and I plan to purchase a full size one after I run out of this.If you have no major acne scars or imperfections you can easily get away looking flawless due to its air brushing effect. It feels light on the skin and its perfect for the summer time Β πŸ˜‰

2. Milani Baked blush in Rose d’oro

I am a blush junkie and this is one of my favorites! It gives you the perfect sun kissed looking cheeks. In case you want a closer look at this beauty, here is a pic with the compact open..

…lovely right πŸ˜‰

3. Bobbi Brown shimmer brick compact in Bronze

This is one of the most amazing products I own and it will last me a lifetime! Its the perfect highlighter/bronzer. You can also use the strips as individual eyeshadows for bronzy lids too. I like to use the top 3 strips as a highlighter and the bottom 2 as a shimmery bronzer.

4. Face Stockholm cream shadow in Chintz *

This is a pretty lilac-pink metallic shade which is great as an easy all over the lid shade. I love the ease of use and the color!!

5. Cover Girl Lash Blast Length in Black

Now, people either hate this or love this mascara. This is one of my favorite mascaras from the drug store. I love long fluttery lashes and this does the job quite well.

6. Blinc Ultrathin Liquid Eyeliner Pen in Black *

The tip of this eyeliner is great for a precise wing or for the thinnest line for your lashline. I like to cut down on the heavy liner in the summer and this is perfect to get the job done!

7. The Balm lipstick in Foxxy Pout

I usually avoid frosty/ metallic looking lipsticks, and this is the only metallic lipstick I own. I don’t wear this quite often due to its frosty nature but I think I can pull it off in the summer! The shade Foxxy Pout is a shimmery, brownish pink shade with gold glitter.

What are your makeup picks for this summer?

Until next time…ciao!!

Hello everyone!

Hope you all had a great Easter weekend! The Easter weekend finally bought me into Spring mode! I played around with a cream shadow from the brand Face Stockholm and a lovely hunter green eyeshadow from Paul and Joe beaute.

Playing with Lavender and Green shadows!
Playing with Lavender and Green shadows!

This is an extremely easy look! All I did was apply the green powder shadow to the crease and the lavender cream shadow all over the lid. I blended the green from the crease onto the the outer corner of the eye as well. The result is an easy 2 shadow look! πŸ™‚

Here are the products I’ve used to achieve this eye look:

1. FACE Stockholm Kramogonskugga (cream shadow) in the shade Chintz ( Reviewed HERE)

2. Paul and Joe Beaute self select eye color in No.22 (Review coming soon!)

Around the world via beauty products: FACE Stockholm from Sweden !

Hello everyone!!

So a couple of weeks ago I had started the around the world series on my blog (Intro HERE) with our first stop being France (HERE). Today the second installment of this series takes us to lovely Sweden πŸ™‚ When I think of Swedish products the adjectives that comes to mind are sleek, functional, practical and simple elegance. The brand from Sweden we are discussing today embodies all these qualities! I am sure atleast some of you are familiar with the brand FACE Stockholm. FACE Stockholm started off in Sweden in 1982 and is now available in the US and other European countries.

FACE Stockholm
FACE Stockholm

FACE Stockholm has an extensive array of products from makeup products and brushes to body and skincare. Today lets take a look at 2 products from the line; namely the lipstick and cream eyeshadow πŸ™‚

1.Lipstick

The founder of FACE Stockholm started the brand since she wanted to have makeup of every possible color and this is truly reflected in the mind boggling shade range they have when it comes to their lipstick collection! I had a hard time choosing a shade from the 148 shades of lipstick on their website!!! πŸ˜€ I finally settled for the shade named Cool and am quite happy with the color!

I love the packaging of the lipstick. It comes in a nice sleek metal tube. The lipsticks from FACE Stockholm come in 3 finishes; matte, creamy and subtle veil. The shade Cool is in the creamy finish and it does apply beautifully on the lips. Although the lipstick does not have as much slip as traditional creamy lipsticks, it is not drying either. So if your looking for a non drying creamy finish lipstick without the slipperiness that comes with most creamy lippies then this one might be for you!

Swatch on arm and on lips!

Although I generally shy away from cool toned pinks I really like this one! It has a really rich pigmentation to it and does not fade too much with eating and drinking. Understandably, the initial luster might go away after some eating/drinking but the pigment stays on the lips far longer. I also did not notice any bleeding. yay !!

2. Cream eyeshadow or Kramogonskugga as they say in Sweden!

I was excited to try this out! I don’t have too many cream eyeshadow products and at heart I think I will always be a powder shadow girl πŸ˜€ I chose the shade Chintz since it was a nice light shade which can be used all over the lid for any occasion or as a base for powder eye shadows.

I absolutely love the texture of this cream shadow! Its like touching creamy butter πŸ˜€ It has a shimmer finish and looks fantastic as an all over the lid neutral shade. For my medium skin tone it worked well as a shade to perk up tired looking eyes. I tested this out when attending a wedding where a lot of dancing and running around was involved ( read sweaty ) and was impressed with how well this held up. I did not notice any creasing or fading at the end of the day (I did use a primer since I always use a primer when attending events)
I do have to warn you though that the jar is tiny! There is 4g of product in the jar and the neck of the jar is quite tiny. If you have long nails and want to get some product out with your fingertips you might experience some difficulty.

Overall, I love these 2 items that I tried out from FACE Stockholm! The quality and colors are top notch!

I hope your enjoying the the around the world in beauty series as much as I am! Its a fantastic way to discover some lovely products originating from different parts of the world πŸ™‚

Until next time…ciao!!

The Milani Shadow Eyez in Golden Bronze

Hello everybody!!

I have been busy with a whole lot of things happening and I really enjoy writing posts for my blog. I find it relaxing and just realized I have now got 70 followers! That is very exciting news for me since I never imagined that would happen when I started blogging some 3 months back πŸ˜€ So a big thank you to everyone who follows my blog..I really appreciate it and thanks for joining me in my journey uncovering the good, the bad and the ugly in the makeup world!!

I am very excited to write about the Milani Shadow eyez pencil or chubby stick or what ever you want to call it πŸ™‚ I am so glad I picked this up on a recent visit to CVS. It is such a pretty eyeshadow color!

The Milani Shadow Eyez
The Milani Shadow Eyez
  • I picked this up some 3 weeks ago and have been using it on and off since I got it. So the Shadow Eyez are like eyeshadow sticks/eyeliners. The texture is phenomenal for a drugstore product..it is creamy and glides on really smoothly and the pigmentation is off the charts!! need I say more to get you to your nearest CVS? πŸ˜€
  • The shade I picked up is called golden bronze and it comes off looking more golden than bronze but the shade is a real stunner!

  • I have mostly used this as an eyeshadow and I am really impressed. It does not crease on me even when I am not wearing a primer. They claim to give you 12 hours of wear without creasing or smudging and I find that to be true! I rarely wear makeup for longer than 12 hours at a stretch but I feel this can maybe last longer than 12 hours with a primer!
  • The shade as such is stunning and stands out when you wear it since it has a metallic sheen to it. There are no big chucks of glitter, the finish is metallic or metal foil like on the eyelids.
Swatch
Swatch
  • I find this an ideal travel companion! Especially if your off to some place this summer πŸ˜€ You can easily use this for an intense 1 eye shadow look or use it to add some summer glam to your neutral eye look.
  • I also like the fact that its easy to not only apply, but also to remove at the end of the day. I do use an oil based makeup remover to do the job.
  • The only negative I can think is the fact that it is like a traditional pencil and not the twist up kinds that do not require sharpening. So if you do not already own a sharpener for a jumbo pencil you might have to get that as well when you purchase this.

If you are based in the US and have a CVS near you do try get your hands on it soon. I managed to get mine for 50% off the original price so I paid somewhere between 4 to 5 $ for this and that is a neat price tag !

Hope your having a great week…until next time ciao!!!
