2018 Holiday Gift guide: Body Oils from Elizabeth W

Hello Folks!

As promised a while back, here I am with a gift guide series featuring small brands that have amazing products which would make unique gifts for loved ones. Today the brand I am excited to talk about is Elizabeth W, a unique small batch apothecary based in San Francisco.

When I was looking around for interesting brands to feature in this series, Elizabeth W caught my eye for their elegant and simple packaging.ย  I am a big fan of aesthetically packaged products, even if it is just a bar of soap ๐Ÿ˜€ There is nothing more delightful than gifting (and of course receiving ) beautifully packaged products!

Elizabeth W started off as a perfumery and now they have incorporated their fragrances into a range of bath and body products, candles, room diffusers, beautiful silk sachets, sleep masks and more. Their website (HERE) is an absolute delight to explore!

I decided to feature their body oils in their 3 signature fragrances : Magnolia, Vetiver and Te for this series. As I mentioned before, they come in simple yet sophisticated packaging as you can see for yourself ๐Ÿ™‚

Moving on from the packaging, lets talk about the body oils. These oils can be used on damp skin just before towel drying or they can be added to your bath water for a luxury bath. I mainly used the oil on my damp skin and loved it! My skin is super dry and the oil left my skin feeling soft and supple. The oils are winter must haves according to me!

The Magnolia fragrance is described on their website as follows: White magnolia petals deepened with saffron and sandalwood mingle with Riviera mimosa and gardenia. I could definitely get a whiff of the sandalwood when I used Magnolia and I think it is a very warm comforting fragrance. It somehow reminds me of my childhood and carefreeย  simpler times and thus is my favorite one ๐Ÿ™‚

Vetiver is described on their website as follows: An original creation of heavy vetiver, balanced with light citrus tones and green tints of bergamot from the peels of nearly ripe fruit. I loved this scent too and I think it is a unisex scent. If you like strong woody scents, this is for you!

Te is described as follows: Gracious, spirited, elegant. An enticing marriage of oriental black teas, juicy fresh Amalfi lemons, and the sweetness of almond honey. I find Te to be a crisp fresh scent which means I’ll be reaching for this in the spring summer time.

I love how distinct and unique each of these body oils are! There is something for everyone. They do have the body oils in other fragrances too so if you get a chance to visit their store in San Francisco do go smell them all ๐Ÿ˜€

The ingredient list is also simple and elegant, very much reflective of the brand as a whole.

Overall, I am loving the body oils and would love to explore their other products. I think the 3 signature fragrances from Elizabeth W are unique and interesting in their own way. A DIY gift bundle such as this is a great gift for any one who loves trying out different scented bath and body products. So, if you have someone on your holiday list who loves perfumes and scented products, check out Elizabeth W.

Until next time, ciao!!!

Kiko Milano Unlimited Lip Stylo in Number 17 Tulip Red

Hello folks! I am a big fan of Kiko Makeup products and have reviewed quite a few of their makeup items on my blog. Most of the time I end up buying stuff from their gorgeous limited edition collections. They have great prices (especially on sale) and pretty packaging – enough to get my attention ๐Ÿ™‚ So far everything I have tried from the brand have been hits.

I decided to try out the Unlimited lip stylo in number 17 from their permanent line. The lipstick is described as being creamy with a semi matte finish. This also promises high pigment and a long lasting finish. The packaging as you can see is on point! It looks like a gun metal pill and has the color printed on. Now, the color is not 100% accurate but it is quite close. The lipstick also has some weight to it so it feels more expensive than it really is.

The color is best described as a bright red with orange undertones in the tube. Once applied on the lips however, the orange doesn’t come thru so much and it looks like a nice warm red. The lipstick bullet shape is quite nice too and givesย  good coverage with a single sweep.

Everything so far sounds great, but the formula is where I kind of went meh! The lipstick is described as being creamy but I found that this drags a bit over the lips especially if I tried wearing this with no lip balm underneath. It is a bit waxy in texture. I was disappointed since I absolutely love the formula of their matte lipstick from the Rebel Romantic Collection (REVIEWED HERE). The formula on that lipstick is amazing..it is creamy, matte, pigmented and comfortable.

They do deliver on the promise of intense pigmentation! The color is quite vivid on the lips and it does stay put on the lips for an entire work day. This particular color does stain my lips a bit so I always have some color on my lips at the end of the day ( in a good way!)

Overall, this isn’t a bad lipstick. The formula is so so. I have tried better products from the brand before, so this is my first average product from Kiko.

What are your favorite Kiko products?

Until next time, ciao!!!

I tried out Shakshuka which is basically an easy egg based dish from Israel/Tunisia. It ย looks yummy, tastes divine and it has the honor of entering in my comfort food list ๐Ÿ™‚

Some of my favorite earrings for Fall/Winter !

Hey everyone!

SO this is it..we are on the last leg of summer! I was de cluttering my jewelry stash the other day and I thought hey why not blog about some of my favorites! After all I write about all things beauty and these fit the bill perfectly!! As I was reorganizing and purging through my collection it struck me that I always tend to wear long more elaborate earrings during the fall and winter months..with them getting chunkier and more elaborate the closer it is to winter! I dunno about you guys but the reason I do this is because once you start layering up the only jewelry you can really use as a ‘statement piece’ is earrings ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_1880_1

This ย blue and gold disc earrings were an absolute favorite of mine last year! I picked these up on a trip to India and they have held up quite well despite a lot of man handling from my side! I like to pair my earrings with my scarfs since I mostly stick to black outer coats/jackets. I used to pair these guys with a nice rich blue scarf very often!

IMG_1884_1

These are smaller in size and if I remember correctly I got these from Old Navy. They are quite well made and pretty for the price (I think they were 5-6 $)! I love that these are the clasp type and not the hook ones. I have lost so many hook type earrings over the years ๐Ÿ˜ฆ that I have a tiny bag of single earrings missing a pair!

IMG_1885_1

I have never worn this pair! I completely forgot that I had these with me ๐Ÿ™‚ I will definitely be busting these out this fall. This pair is kind of big and a little heavy which is probably why it hasn’t received much love from moi! Don’t you hate it when you pick up a lovely pair of earrings and then don’t wear them since they are heavy.

This was another pair which received a lot of love last year! However, I think wore this more in the winter than during fall. This was also purchased at the same place as the blue and gold disc type earrings.

This mother of pearl earrings were a birthday gift from a friend maybe 5 years ago! I didn’t quite like it back then but now I really love these. They are really light weight and so pretty too!

I hope to add some new pieces to my collection soon! Any suggestions for good online jewelry stores ?
