Pat McGrath Eye Ecstasy Eyeshadow Palette in Sublime

Hello folks!! I did some wallet damage this black Friday with a couple of makeup purchases 😀 Pat McGrath was having a really good sale and so I decided to pick up this mini eyeshadow palette she released for those of us who basically don’t want to shell out 125$ on an eyeshadow palette. The Eye Ecstasy palette had 2 color options : a neutral one and a more colorful one. I decided to pick up Sublime since the neutral color story is more everyday usable for me.

The palette comes housed in a bag full of sequins which isn’t really my cup of tea. I find it annoying and wasteful and wish she would do away with that style of packaging for her products. The actual palette is housed in a plastic component that reminds me of Japanese school supplies for some reason 😀 I don’t mind the aesthetic too much since it is different and sturdy enough for travel, however as a luxury brand I expect slightly better packaging. The actual shadows look beautiful and you get five shadows each weighing 1gm.

The shades are nothing new and are all shimmers. If you are an eyeshadow junkie you probably have all these shades in your collection. I got this palette more to test out her eyeshadow formula before biting the bullet and investing in her bigger palettes.

Unfortunately, I am not very impressed. 😦 The gold shade fades on me as the day goes by. The light gold, the warm gold and the reddish bronze shade crease too….this is something that never happens to me! Shadows almost never crease on my dry eye lids and cheaper shadows in my collection perform way better. I always use a primer and with a primer these shades were very disappointing..maybe I had very high expectations..after all this is a luxe brand!

Now I am curious to try her lipsticks, which have good reviews and perhaps try out her ‘special’ formula of shadows which look like duo or multi chromes…on sale 😀

On another note, I do have a YouTube channel now 😀 Check out my video review and live brush swatches of this palette on my channel !

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts?

Until next time, ciao!!!

Too Faced Peach Blur Finishing Powder

Hello folks!

I always found finishing powders and setting powders unnecessary steps especially since I have dry skin. I finally entered the magical world of finishing powders when I first used Guerlain Meteorites. I absolutely love the blurred/ subtle glow the meteorites provided!  Since then I do like to try out finishing powders every once in a while. I loved the packaging of the Too Faced Peach Blur and decided to try it out and now I am hooked!

Too Faced Peach Blur Finishing Powder

Like most of the products in the Too Faced peach line this powder has a subtle scent. However it is not very strong and I can’t really smell it once I have applied the powder on my face. The powder looks pink in the pan and my main worry was if that would translate to a pinkish tint on my medium skintone. Luckily, this powder lives up to its claim of being translucent!

The key to making this work is following the less is more rule. I swirl a nice fluffy face brush all over the pan and swish it onto my face. Done..no second dips into the pan. The powder is pressed hard in the pan and there is no kick up. The effect is a nice subtle airbrush sort of finish. I find the final finish comparable to the Guerlain Meteorites 🙂

I love this product so much! I highly doubt I will finish this powder anytime soon since you need so little but if this runs out I’ll happily repurchase!

Do you use finishing powders? Which ones are your favorites?
